Orr Outdoors operates RidgeLog, a scouting journal for hunters. This policy explains how RidgeLog accesses, uses, stores, and shares user and device data.
Information RidgeLog accesses
Location: With your permission, RidgeLog accesses precise or approximate location when you log an observation. It records coordinates, location accuracy, and device-reported elevation so the observation can be mapped and associated with field conditions.
Camera and photos: With your permission, RidgeLog uses the camera when you choose to photograph an observation. Photos are stored in RidgeLog's private storage on your device.
Journal information: RidgeLog stores information you enter, including species, animal counts and types, behavior, travel direction, estimated distance, hunting pressure, notes, dates, times, and related environmental conditions.
Device and diagnostic information: RidgeLog records the app version, build number, device manufacturer and model, operating-system version, whether the device is physical or virtual, and technical error details. This information is used to identify compatibility problems and troubleshoot crashes.
How information is used and shared
RidgeLog uses location to save scouting observations and request current weather conditions. When weather is requested, latitude and longitude are sent over an encrypted connection to Open-Meteo. Open-Meteo may retain server logs containing IP addresses and geographic coordinates for up to 90 days under its own terms and privacy policy: https://open-meteo.com/en/terms
Orr Outdoors does not operate a RidgeLog cloud account or server in the current version. Journal entries, photos, and diagnostic records remain on the user's device and are not automatically uploaded to Orr Outdoors. RidgeLog does not use advertising or analytics SDKs, does not sell personal information, and does not share information for advertising.
Google Play may process app-installation and store-usage information independently under Google's privacy policy.
Storage, retention, and deletion
Journal entries, photos, settings, and diagnostic records remain on the device until the user deletes them, clears the app's storage, or uninstalls RidgeLog. Deleting an observation also deletes photos attached to that observation from RidgeLog's private app storage. The Diagnostics screen allows users to clear local diagnostic records.
Permissions and choices
Location and camera access are optional device permissions. Users can deny or revoke either permission in Android settings. RidgeLog permits an observation to be saved without a location or photo, although weather information cannot be requested without coordinates.
Security
RidgeLog stores app information in private application storage and uses encrypted HTTPS connections for weather requests. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but Orr Outdoors uses reasonable safeguards appropriate to the current app design.
Children's privacy
RidgeLog is not directed to children under 13, and Orr Outdoors does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
Orr Outdoors may update this policy when RidgeLog's features or data practices change. The updated policy and effective date will be posted on this page.
